About Watchfield Court
Watchfield Court is an impressive 1930’s art deco building in Chiswick, close to Chiswick Town Hall, Christ Church church and the open space that is Turnham Green. The building occupies the space formerly occupied by a large house built in the 1880’s and demolished in 1934. The first occupants of Watchfield Court moved in in 1936.
The main building comprises 3 blocks each of five storeys and there are also 4 smaller 3 storey
satellite buildings, built in the late fifties and early sixties.
Watchfield Court is set within large well maintained communal gardens. Mostly laid to lawn, there are also a variety of established shrubs, mature hedges and over 100 trees. Some of the trees have been planted recently but some were planted close to 100 years ago and they are all subject to conservation regulations.
There are benches strategically placed around the lawns and alongside one of the two fountains, where residents can enjoy quiet reflection or meet with other residents. At regular intervals during good weather, residents meet next to the rose garden to enjoy each other’s company and to take a glass of wine.
